Why she became a muse
I met Sharina at the Kamasutrabeurs, a fair in the Netherlands, last year. She was the one who asked: would I paint her?
That is not how this series usually starts. Usually a photograph stops me and I go looking for the woman afterwards. Here she came first, and then the picture.
Who is Sharina van der Vliet?
Sharina van der Vliet is a Dutch model from The Hague. She works freelance, mostly on lingerie, swimwear and fashion shoots, and publishes her own work on Instagram.
She has been on the cover of Playboy Netherlands.
This summary is put together from publicly available sources and has not been checked with her. If something here is wrong or she would rather it were not here, write to the studio and it is corrected or removed.

Painting Sharina van der Vliet in the studio
The whole picture is blue, put down with the knife more than the brush, in strokes that go every direction except the one she is lying in. The only warm thing in it is her skin, and the only loud thing is her mouth.
Twice the paint runs straight across her, as if the light in the room flickered. That stayed in.
Sharina van der Vliet paintings: what exists
Oil on stretched canvas, 100 x 80 cm, signed, one of one, from Painted Idols. Painted from a photograph of her, and the painting credits it. A hand-signed print exists in a small edition that is never reprinted. The canvas was painted by hand from that photograph; what it became is the painter's doing, not hers.
What is still available, and at what price, is on the cards below.
