Why this one
The point of view in this canvas is not mine and it is not yours.
She lifts her shirt just far enough that you almost cannot not look, and she shows nothing. Her weight is on one leg. That is where the balance comes from, and it is why she reads as sure of herself rather than caught at it.
Watch what she is actually looking at. Work out whose point of view it is and the whole painting changes. It took me an embarrassingly long time to see what I had done, and I had done it on purpose.
It stopped because she has no interest in you whatsoever. You are not going to reach her, and once that was on the canvas there was nothing left for me to do.
What do you do with it?
Inspired by a photograph of Lindsey Pelas. Second of two canvases of Lindsey.
Buying it is the easy part
The photograph this came from was made to be scrolled past. It got three seconds, if that. This canvas took weeks, and it will hang on a wall for years and be seen every day.
Ordering it takes a minute. Deciding where it goes is the part that takes nerve, because everyone who walks into that room will see it and think something. That part is yours.
